Shipping Container Home by Julio Garcia
Julio Garcia is an artist and designer known for his mixed media prints. His penchant for combining disparate elements to create beautiful new works is fully evident in his approach to designing his home and studio for his wooded lot in Savannah, Georgia.
The Savanna Project is a small, budget-conscious home built from two 40-foot shipping containers and elements of wood, steel and concrete. The home is about 800 square feet and features one bedroom, bathroom, long open kitchen and an open floor living space, as well as a wooden deck on the outside with steps leading into the forest. 1

It’s neat to see these industrial containers repurposed in such a way, particularly in the vicinity of Savannah where they are considered to be a superfluous item: Savannah is a port city and has an abundance of them, however they have been made obsolete by the largely one-way flow of consumer goods from China to America. 2
