The Art of Andrew Spear

Andrew Spear is an artist currently based in Orlando, Florida, whose art has been featured in a number of exhibitions and publications, including Juxtapoz Magazine.

Colored pencil is his preferred medium, and he uses it to dazzling effect, creating arresting and intimate portraits that invite the viewer into moments of introspection, exultation and allure.

I like his subtle skewing of proportions, which enhances the dreamlike quality of the works and adds a bit of a tweaky, refracted edge. In addition, his choice in cultural icons (Stevie, MJ, Richard Pryor, to name but a few) is right up my alley.

Andrew’s art will be on display at Bold Hype Gallery in New York from Nov. 11-Dec. 3rd.
