Dr. Faustus: H.P. Lovecraft x Dr. Seuss

“The most merciful thing in the world, I think, is the inability of the human mind to correlate all its contents. We live on a placid island of ignorance in the midst of black seas of infinity, and it was not meant that we should voyage far.” – H.P. Lovecraft, The Call of Cthulhu

“You’ll miss the best things if you keep your eyes shut.” – Dr. Seuss, I Can Read With My Eyes Shut!

Australian illustrator Dr. Faustus is recreating the classic H. P. Lovecraft tale The Call of Cthulhu as a Dr. Seuss-style children’s book. He’s created more than 40 pages so far, and is still going strong. You can view them here or browse his entire portfolio at deviantART.

I’m all for this kind of creative hybridization, it’s fun and pays homage to both authors nicely. Kudos to Dr. Faustus!
