Tanzania: Photos by Konrad Lukas

Konrad Lukas is a photographer from Poland who has traveled extensively in Europe, Africa and Western Asia.

It’s easy to lose oneself in the dreamy vistas of Tanzania he captured on a recent trip, particularly those of sea farmers on the coast of Zanzibar:

“The azure waters of the Indian ocean, snow-white sand, blue sky – this is the oneiric world of sea farmers. These plots are almost half a kilometer from the shore. During the morning low tide almost the whole village moves on a white, sea desert. Women cultivate seaweed, men set off to fish in their traditional wooden dhow boats, children play all around. The unreal spectacle lasts for several hours until waters return around noon. The ocean floods the fields again, allows boats to come back to the port and moves the whole local society back to the village.” ¹
